I do a lot of book layout and design for Telos Publishing, and I’m very pleased to hear that one of the most enjoyable projects I’ve ever had the pleasure to work on, the full-color coffee table book covering the modern renaissance in horror cinema called It Lives Again!, has won a Silver Award in the Performing Arts category from ForeWord Magazine. More information can be found on Telos’ own site, but I just want to say congratulations to Telos and thanks for letting me be a part of an award-winning project!

The only explanation is how much time I spend on Facebook and Twitter, but I’m going to try to get this place all spruced up for 2010 with new content, more information about my books and some other surprises (when I think of them!). In the meantime, sorry to my twelve loyal readers for leaving you in the lurch for so long. I’ll try not to let it happen again.

Just a quick update about a couple podcast appearances I’ve recently made. I’ve been an admirer of The Chronic Rift for a while, so I was thrilled to be asked to take part when they put together a roundtable discussion about…what else? Zombies! You can hear me pontificate about the living dead here.

The Golden Age of Comic Books blog and podcast by Bill Jourdain caught up with me at the Baltimore Comic-Con and here is my brief chat with Bill. The two of us have written material for the Asgard Press vintage comic cover calendars, so it was nice to meet at last.

My Baltimore Comic-Con Schedule: 10/10-11/2009!

The Baltimore Comic-Con is back in town this weekend, Saturday and Sunday 10/10 and 10/11, at the Baltimore Convention Center just across the street from my day job, Geppi’s Entertainment Museum. It’ll be a very busy weekend as it’s also “World Zombie Day” on Sunday, with a massive zombie walk taking place in downtown Baltimore. The shambling starts at the Barnes & Noble bookstore in the Inner Harbor at 1pm and ends at…Geppi’s Entertainment Museum at 3pm!

I’ll be on hand most of the weekend at the museum booth (#2401) on the main convention floor, but there are a few specific times to keep in mind:

Saturday 3pm-4-pm and Sunday 11am-12pm – Both days I’ll be signing copies of Asgard Press’ (#2109) vintage Marvel Comics cover calendar (for which I wrote the intro).

Sunday, 3pm, at Geppi’s – I’ll be signing copies of my exhaustive guide to zombie movies, Zombiemania. We have a limited number of copies back in stock, so shuffle in as fast as your decaying limbs can carry you.

Hope to see a lot of you this weekend, living or otherwise!

Facebook Comic Con Summer Gala: August 13-16

Facebook Comic Con is a really cool concept spearheaded by Michael Netzer to create a virtual ongoing convention-style presence in one of the greatest social networking environments on the web. They “opened” in March of this year, but from August 13-16, the Facebook Comic Con will run its Summer Gala, including lots of special guests, panel discussions, art portfolio reviews, and much more. I’ll be taking part in a few panels, including one on Comics in Academia, and leading the panel From Comics to Movies. And here is my table at the con.
